Results Help

General

This section gives you some tips and hints for the results page. Once you have done a search you are presented with a set of results.

It is important that you understand how the results are prioritised and ranked so that you can adjust your search accordingly.

Search Result

Ranking

When you add a key work the system looks for the number of occurrences of those key words within the both the title and the job description, (unless you specifically asked to search the title only).

Each matched job gets a score for both the title matches and the job description matches.

The priority is given to the title first then the description.

Order by

The default prioritisation is by ranking, i.e. key work matches, however you do have the option, under the advances search, to change the order to either date posted or by radius.

Keyword highlights

You will see that within the results of each job the key words that you selected will be highlighted in blue.

Views / clicks

The views will tell you how many times that job has been viewed by other users.

Clicks will give you an indication of the number of users who have clicked through to look at the job.

Radius

The radius figure will give you a straight line distance from your selected location to the position of that job. This radius will work even if the job was originally posted without this information as JobMagpie post processes all job adverts to calculate this figure.

Short list

This button allows you to short list or save any jobs to your account. When you are logged in you can review your saves jobs under your account page.

You can also unclick them as you need, or delete them in your account page.

Latest searches

Each time you do a new search JobMagpie will remember the criteria that you entered and add it to the latest searches panel. These will remain all the time you are on the site or logged in. The list is cleared if you navigate away from the site or close your browser.
